Ella Day is a Canadian artist and musician currently living in New York City.
Influenced by string-theory, graffiti, architecture, and fairy tales, Ella is fascinated by human and animal forms, portraiture and costuming.
She has lived, performed and exhibited in several different cities across Canada, and has travelled extensively. Over the years her visual practice has expanded from drawing and painting to include mixed media, 3d constructions, installation, and photography.
While living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, she was heavily involved with non-profit organizations and artist run centres. She served on the board of directors for Gallery 1313, one of the longest running non-profit arts organizations in Canada.
She holds an Arts Degree with Honours from York University and was a student of the notable American artist Tim Whiten, who remains an influence.
“I am interested in the links between sight and sound, the tangible visible world, and the sonic unseen world.”
Her work is often described as playful, with a sense of humour.
